Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav, in a scathing attack on the state BJP government, said that the “pothole-free campaign” has proven to be a complete failure.
He alleged that the poor condition of roads in several districts, including Noida, is constantly being exposed, and incidents of vehicles falling into potholes are occurring on a daily basis.
Referring to the recent incident of a car falling into an open drain in Noida and the earlier death of an engineer, Akhilesh Yadav said even after nine years of the BJP rule, potholes on the roads have not been filled, despite claims of spending thousands of crores of rupees on them.
Akhilesh Yadav said corruption is rampant in every department under the BJP government and the budget is being misappropriated. Questioning the law and order situation, he said that incidents of murder, crimes against women, cybercrime, and Dalit harassment have increased in the state. The government’s claim of “zero tolerance” has proven false. He alleged that development work has stalled and there is rampant corruption in schemes, citing the Jal Jeevan Mission as an example.
He said farmers are not getting fair prices for their crops, middlemen dominate, and farmers are facing difficulties in purchasing fertilizers and seeds. Youth are unable to find employment and face lathicharges when they ask for jobs. Accusing the government of neglecting the interests of traders, he also raised the issue of the demolition of the old pulse market in Varanasi.
Akhilesh Yadav said that the claims of investment and development are far from reality. “Lies, loot, and dishonesty” have become the policy under the BJP government. He alleged that the state has been pushed back in the race for development.
