Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government wants to avoid discussing real issues confronting the public, that is the reason topics like Vande Mataram are going to be raised in the winter session of the state assembly even though it has already been discussed in the Lok Sabha.

He said the people associated with the BJP’s ideology never sang Vande Mataram before or after independence, but now a debate is being orchestrated to divert attention from important issues. The single-party government wants to engage in emotional discussions.

Speaking at the party office on Thursday, Akhilesh Yadav said that the government has no answers to the public issues. Everyone saw the situation arising from the shortage of fertilizers; despite standing in lines. It’s the paddy procurement season; tell us what preparations have been made.

Not a single factory has been built. Electricity is being privatized. Criminals are roaming freely in the state. No action is being taken against Kodin Bhaiya. There is a grave concern about the environment. What is Delhi’s AQI? When everyone is raising questions, they are asking them to check the government app, he said referring to a meeting of the MLAs convened to discuss the issues.

Akhilesh Yadav said that the India-South Africa cricket match had to be canceled in Lucknow due to pollution, but officials are claiming that the Air Quality Index (AQI) was fine. He asked where the government is getting these AQI figures from. He alleged that the government is trying to avoid discussing important issues like pollution by rejecting the data from independent agencies.

He lamented that no action is being taken on the Kodin syrup issue. Under the double-engine government, one engine wants to catch the culprits, while the other wants to let them off. The SP president accused the BJP of causing immense damage to the environment, claiming that a record number of trees have been felled under incumbent BJP governments. Forests have been destroyed on a large scale in Chhattisgarh, and now there are plans to destroy the Aravalli hills. Meanwhile, 500-foot-deep pits have been dug during mining in Sonbhadra.

On Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling the hijab of a young woman, Akhilesh Yadav said at his age, he needs a helper. Sentiments of any community should not be hurt in this manner.

The SP chief alleged that the BJP is conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) with the help of the Election Commission. Through this exercise a conspiracy is being hatched to remove the votes of the Opposition parties. This is dangerous for democracy and the Samajwadi Party will continue to oppose it.

On the renaming of MNREGA, he said these people (the BJP) do not believe in God. Ekana is a name of Lord Vishnu, and they have even disregarded that name. Since they have changed the name of MNREGA, they should at least seat the actor who played the role of Ram in the Ramayana next to the prime minister in Parliament.
