The BJP on Wednesday released a draft development document aimed at the comprehensive development of the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation.
The draft development document, which had earlier been presented by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was released under the leadership of Thiruvananthapuram Mayor VV Rajesh on Wednesday.
The document promises project progress cards, a people’s budget based on public opinion, and corruption-free governance through the use of digital technologies. It also states that one event of the 2036 Olympics will be hosted in Thiruvananthapuram.
According to the draft plan, all financial transactions of the Corporation will be made completely digital, housing will be provided to the homeless within five years, waste management will be implemented based on the Indore model, and a comprehensive drainage system will be established in all wards.
The document also proposes bringing streetlights under a centralized system, developing Thiruvananthapuram into a major port city, promoting nightlife, and ensuring the availability of medicines at affordable prices.
Mayor VV Rajesh further announced that action would be taken against private individuals who dump waste, including toilet waste, into water bodies, canals, and rivers through underground pipelines, based on findings from digital surveys.
BJP Thiruvananthapuram District President Karamana Jayan, Deputy Mayor Ashanath G.S., and BJP Parliamentary Party Leader Pappanamcode Saji were present at the release ceremony held at the BJP State Committee office.
During the election campaign, the BJP has made ambitious promises, ranging from hosting an Olympic event in the city to ensuring “100 per cent benefit” of all Union government-funded projects for the capital city if voted to power in the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation.
