A Corporator of the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia city, who had as out of jail on bail in a murder case, was shot dead by three unidentified assailants on Tuesday.
Lallu Kushwaha was the city Municipal body’s councillor from ward number one. He was on his routine morning walk, along with two of his friends, when he was fired at two rounds by three bike-borne assailants at the Sewda Chungi Chowk. One bullet hit him in the back and the other in his head. As he died on the spot his assailants fled the scene.
On getting the information, a police team rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem. The Police are scanning CCTV footage and gathering information from passersby to identify assailants.
According to SDOP Aakansha Jain, Lallu Kushwaha had more than 15 criminal cases registered against him. In 2025, the district court had sentenced him and six others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of former corporator Bal Kishan Kushwaha. About four months ago, he was released on bail by the High Court.
Lallu Kushwaha was elected councillor on a BJP ticket to the Datia Civic body in 2022.
