BJP chief Nitin Nabin starts Punjab outreach drive, reviews poll preparedness

BJP President Nitin Nabin begins his three-day visit to Punjab.

National President and Rajya Sabha MP Nitin Nabin on Saturday began his three-day visit to Punjab with a series of engagements in Amritsar, including visits to prominent religious and historical sites and meetings with party leaders aimed at strengthening the organisation ahead of the state Assembly elections.

Nabin arrived in Amritsar to a grand welcome by BJP leaders and workers before proceeding to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). During his visit, he was also scheduled to visit Jallianwala Bagh, Shri Durgiana Temple and Shri Ram Tirath Temple. Party leaders said the tour is part of a broader exercise to assess the political landscape in Punjab and energise the party cadre across the state.

Later in the day, Nabin was scheduled to travel to Jalandhar and Ludhiana, where he would interact with grassroots workers, elected representatives and party functionaries. According to BJP leaders, feedback from local units and discussions on organisational preparedness will form a key component of the visit.

A significant meeting of the BJP Punjab Core Committee was also held in Amritsar under Nabin’s leadership. Senior party leaders and office-bearers participated in deliberations focused on election preparedness, organisational expansion and strategies for strengthening the party’s presence across Punjab.

During the meeting, leaders reviewed the prevailing political situation in the state and discussed plans to take the party’s programmes and policies to a wider section of the electorate. The discussions also covered booth-level mobilisation, outreach initiatives and future organisational priorities.

Party leaders expressed confidence that the BJP would continue to expand its footprint in Punjab under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They reiterated the party’s objective of building a stronger organisation in the state and highlighted efforts aimed at achieving what they described as a “double-engine government” model in Punjab.

Political observers view Nabin’s visit as part of the BJP’s preparations for the next Assembly elections. Analysts noted that the party leadership has been actively engaging with units in states heading towards elections, with a focus on assessing organisational strengths and identifying areas requiring greater attention.

The visit is also being seen as an opportunity for the BJP to evaluate its performance in different regions of Punjab, including Majha, Doaba and Malwa. Party leaders indicated that discussions would include a review of previous electoral performances and measures to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.

In Ludhiana, Nabin is expected to participate in programmes aimed at engaging young voters and interacting directly with youth groups. BJP leaders believe such initiatives will help the party expand its outreach among first-time voters and strengthen its presence in the state’s urban and industrial centres.

The BJP said the three-day tour would focus on organisational consolidation, public outreach and preparations for future electoral challenges, while reinforcing the party’s commitment to expanding its base in Punjab.
