The BJP has appointed its national general secretary, Sunil Bansal, as the convener of the 15-day-long ‘Seva Pakhwada’, being organized nationwide to observe the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The two-week-long campaign will run from September 17 to October 2.

Bansal, a key leader of the BJP, has handled several organizational responsibilities. He has also served as the Uttar Pradesh organisational secretary, where he played a significant role in helping the party to return to power in the politically important state after several years.

Now entrusted with the ‘Seva Pakhwada’, Bansal has already held workshops with the party leaders from across the country to prepare for the mega event.

During the ‘Seva Pakhwada’, the BJP plans to conduct a wide range of activities, including blood donation and health camps, cleanliness drives, the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative, and exhibitions and dialogue programmes.

Bansal said over seven hundred dialogue programmes will be conducted across states, including special interactions with differently abled citizens, during which assistive devices will also be distributed.

The “Modi Vikas Marathon” — works done by the Modi government — will be organised simultaneously on September 21 in more than 75 major cities by BJYM.

Additionally, all BJP MPs will host sports festivals across their constituencies.

Registrations for the sports activities began on August 29, with the events starting on September 21.

Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav and BJP General Secretary Sunil Bansal, while addressing a press conference, had also announced that from September 25 (birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyaya), the BJP will launch the “Atmanirbhar Bharat — Viksit Bharat” campaign, which will continue till December 25.

As a senior pracharak of the RSS, Sunil Bansal is currently serving as the BJP’s national general secretary.

Interestingly, after being relieved of his responsibility as the national joint organising secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Bansal was appointed as the organisational secretary of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
