A vote for BJP will ensure Tripura’s prosperity: PM to Agartala electorate

Ending days of speculation, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday announced the name of Biplab Kumar Deb as the next Chief Minister of Tripura following BJP’s stunning victory in the assembly polls.
Addressing the media in the state capital of Agartala, Gadkari said: “Biplab Kumar Deb to be the chief ministerial candidate for Tripura.”
Gadkari along with Union Minister Jual Oram was appointed as central observers by the Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and are in the state to deliberate upon the various aspects of government formation.

Meanwhile, Biplab Kumar Deb named Jishnu Deb Burman as the deputy Chief Minister of the state.
From being a gym instructor to playing a key role in the miraculous performance of the BJP in Tripura, chief of the party’s state unit, Biplab was the frontrunner for the post of CM ever since the Left citadel in the state crumbled on March 3.
Born in the Gomoti district of Tripura, Biplab completed his higher education in the state before moving to the national capital for further studies.
A favourite of party chief Amit Shah, Biplab has been the president of Tripura’s BJP unit since 2016.
Tripura, which was seen as the fortress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) for over two decades came down like a house of cards as the BJP-IPFT coalition swept the February 18 polls, winning 43 of the 59 seats.
The BJP secured 35 seats in the 60-member assembly, while ally IPFT, a tribal-based party, won eight seats. The CPI-M got only 16 seats, while the Congress drew a blank.
In the 2013 Assembly Polls, the CPI(M) had won 49 seats, while the Congress bagged 10 seats and the BJP failed to win even a single seat in the state.
