Bihar seat-sharing, poll strategy in focus as CWC convenes in Patna

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) held a historic meeting at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna on Wednesday. This is the first time the party’s highest decision-making body is convening in Bihar.

The CWC meeting in Patna comes ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.

During the meeting, the party leaders are expected to finalise poll strategy and discuss seat-sharing arrangements with RJD and other Mahagathbandhan allies.

According to a report, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to hold a meeting with Tejashwi Yadav to finalise the seat-sharing at 4 pm today.

Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh recently said that a final decision on seat-sharing will be taken after the CWC meeting.

Earlier this week, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had also hinted that the seat-sharing has almost been finalised and an announcement will be made soon.

Meanwhile, more than 170 senior Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Karnataka Chief Ministers Siddaramaiah, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh will attend the meeting.

Several other prominent leaders such as Ashok Gehlot, Shashi Tharoor, and Sachin Pilot are also expected to be present in the meeting.

Ahead of the meeting, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal said that the historic CWC gathering in Patna will send a strong message of the party’s commitment to Bihar’s welfare.

“Bihar stands at a crossroads between the politics of hope and justice, and the politics of hate, violence, and constitutional subversion,” Venugopal said in a post on X. “This meeting reaffirms our unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Bihar.
