Harnessing Bihar’s vast solar potential, the state government has sharpened its focus on promoting green and clean energy as part of an ambitious push towards sustainable development and reduced dependence on conventional power sources.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday directed officials to promote the use of solar energy and popularise government incentives aimed at encouraging consumers to install solar panels on their homes, enabling them to become self-reliant in the field of solar energy.

On Sunday, the government launched the “Bihar Green Climate Fund” to increase green cover in the state, protect the environment, and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.

The Chief Minister asked officials to come up with innovative ideas to promote the use of clean energy, which would not only help reduce dependence on conventional sources of electricity but also boost power generation capacity.

“Our objective is to promote green and clean energy, and a comprehensive plan must be developed for this purpose. Solar panels installed anywhere must be properly maintained. Jeevika members in rural areas should be encouraged to install solar plants. Public awareness campaigns should be conducted regarding the functioning and benefits of solar plants so that interest in adopting solar energy increases in rural areas,” the Chief Minister said.

He also directed officials to accelerate the installation of solar plants at the premises of 10 lakh Kutir Jyoti consumers under the Kutir Jyoti Scheme. The Chief Minister further stressed the need to promote the solarisation of agricultural feeders and include more such feeders under the programme to increase the use of solar energy in agricultural activities.
