The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday tried to woo Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JJD) leader and Lalu Yadav’s estranged son, Tej Pratap Yadav, ahead of the Bihar Assembly Election results on November 14.

When BJP MP Ravi Kishan and JJD national president Tej Pratap Yadav bumped into each other outside the Patna airport, the former, while speaking to reporters, suggested that his party was open to an alliance.

Ravi Kishan described Tej Pratap Yadav, who is contesting the election from Mahua Assembly constituency, as a man with a kind heart, adding that the BJP likes to ally with people who aim to serve the people.

“He (Tej Pratap Yadav) is a man with a kind heart… A devotee of Bholenath… BJP keeps its heart open for all those people whose aim is service,” Ravi Kishan said.

To this, Tej Pratap Yadav responded but did not clarify his position on a possible alliance with the BJP: “I met Ravi Kishan for the first time… He is a devotee of God, and we are also devotees… I said from the beginning that I am with whoever eliminates unemployment and provides employment.”

Earlier in the day as well, following the conclusion of the first phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly elections yesterday, Tej Pratap had hinted at a possible post-poll alliance. However, he did not say which party or alliance he would ally with.

“There will be a change on the 14th, a complete change. I will support whoever talks about real issues, creates jobs, and stops migration… We will support whoever gets a majority and forms the government, as long as they work for the people,” Tej Pratap told IANS news agency.
