The Election Commission of Bihar has successfully completed the first phase of the Special Integrated Revision (SIR) process, covering 99.8 per cent of the state’s electors, the poll panel said in its daily press update on Sunday.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, forms of over 7.23 crore electors have been received and digitised, with their names set to be included in the Draft Electoral Roll scheduled for release on August 1.
Approximately 22 lakh electors have been reported as deceased since June 24, and around 7 lakh electors were found registered in multiple locations. About 35 lakh electors have either permanently migrated or could not be traced, while approximately 1.2 lakh enumeration forms are yet to be received.
The CEO of Bihar, along with 38 District Election Officers (DEOs), 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 2,976 Assistant EROs (AEROs), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across 77,895 polling booths, led the successful execution of the first phase of the SIR drive. Over 1.60 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing 12 major political parties also contributed to the process.
From August 1 to September 1, any elector or political party can file claims and objections to the ERO concerned for the inclusion of eligible electors or the removal of ineligible electors. The Draft Electoral Roll will be published on August 1 and will be available on the CEO’s website for public access.
