Amid growing political pressure over delays in the investigation into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha visited the victim student’s village in Jehanabad on Wednesday, met her family, and assured them of justice.

“No matter how influential the accused may be, whoever has committed the crime will receive certain and strict punishment,” Sinha said. He added that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the case from every angle to ensure the truth comes to light.

Sinha told the family that he has been in constant touch with Director General of Police Vinay Kumar and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary and that he regularly reviews the progress made by the SIT. He said the DGP is personally monitoring the case and ensuring that the investigation proceeds in a time-bound manner. Efforts are being made to connect every link in the case, from digital evidence to forensic proof.

The Deputy Chief Minister urged the family members, as well as the local community, to maintain patience and cooperate with the SIT investigating the case.

Meanwhile, politics surrounding the suspicious death and alleged rape of a student preparing for NEET at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna has reached Parliament. Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, staged a strong protest outside the Parliament building on Wednesday, making serious allegations against the Bihar Police and the state government.

Pappu Yadav alleged that this was not merely a case of a student’s death, but had become an example of power-protected crime, police negligence, and a well-organised conspiracy.

Outside the Parliament complex, Pappu Yadav was seen sitting in protest with banners wrapped around his body and placards in his hands. The slogans on the placards sharply criticised the functioning of the government and the police.

The placards said: “Who is the killer of the NEET student? Stop the game in the name of investigation, bring the real culprits to light,” “Stop harassing the family to protect criminals,” “A CBI investigation is necessary,” and “The government must free Patna from the nexus of sex rackets.”
