Bihar: Over 30 schoolgirls thrashed for resisting sexual advances

More than 30 girl students of a residential school in Bihar were beaten up group of local men for resisting sexual advances. The girls have been admitted to a hospital in Triveniganj in Saupaul district.

According to the media reports, the men used to harass the girls by passing lewd remarks and writing vulgar comments on the school wall.

The girls had reportedly complained to the school administration earlier but no action was taken.

On the day when the incident occurred some girls caught a group of boys who had sneaked into the school. They asked the men to leave. The girls had to beat the guys up in self defence when they began to misbehave with them.

Later, as things escalate, the girls were beaten up by the men. It is believed that the girls were attacked by almost two dozen men. Many girls were left bleeding and they were soon rushed to the hospital.

The mob had also vandalized school property.

Police have filed an FIR in the case and an investigation has been launched. However, no one has been arrested yet.
