Bharat is an immortal civilisation; world would cease to exist without Hindus: Mohan Bhagwat

Drawing a parallel with ancient civilisations that disappeared from the face of the earth, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that Bharat is an “immortal civilisation,” asserting that the world would “cease to exist if Hindus cease to exist.”

Speaking at an event in Manipur, Bhagwat said that while the civilisations of Yunaan (Greece), Misr (Egypt), and Roma perished, there is something in Bharat that has allowed the country and its civilisation to stand strong through the ages.

“Bharat is the name of an immortal civilisation…We have created a network in our society because of which the Hindu community will always exist,” the RSS chief remarked.

“The world will cease to exist if Hindus cease to exist,” he added.

BJP leaders endorsed his views, saying that Hinduism is a tolerant religion and that its scriptures teach respect for all.

“That is why you will see that in our tradition, no one is called a kafir. We pray for the welfare of the entire world and for harmony among all beings. This is our nature — the nature of Sanatanis,” said Jharkhand BJP MLA C.P. Singh.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh also echoed Bhagwat, saying, “Sanatan is our foundation, and what was once Akhand Bharat — with boundaries that, as history suggests, extended up to Afghanistan — was essentially the form of a Sanatani India. Over time, India has suffered many divisions, difficulties, and crises.”

Reacting to Bhagwat’s remarks, Congress MP Imran Masood said, “Hinduism is a broad and inclusive faith, and within that inclusiveness, I, Imran Masood, take pride in my religion.”

Calling himself a “proud Muslim,” Masood added, “This inclusiveness embraces everyone, accommodates all, and reflects a large-hearted approach. Within this inclusiveness, religion is treated impartially, without hatred.”
