Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Thursday that the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will manufacture the country’s premium trains — Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and Metro coaches — in Umaria village, near the historic Bhojpur in Raisen district of the state.
The CM informed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh would lay the foundation stone of the BEML Unit on 1O August.
Dr Yadav said that the cost of this project is Rs 1800 crore, and it has been named BRAHMA (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing). The CM noted that nearly 5000 people would get direct and indirect employment in this project. He said that 148 acres of land has been allotted for this project in Goharganj tehsil of Umaria village.
Initially, the company will manufacture 125-200 coaches annually. Within 5 years, their number will be 1100 coaches. This project would create large-scale and small-scale ancillaries in Bhopal and Raisen area.
The chief minister said that he is continuously taking the state on the path of development to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ mantra, and as part of it moving towards ‘Make in Madhya Pradesh’.
He informed that Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also be present in the foundation laying ceremony, while Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will attend the event virtually.
Bhojpur is the part of the Vidisha Lok Sabha seat represented by Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“This project will not just be a plant, but a vision. It is a self-reliant future-ready and globally competitive project”, Dr Yadav emphasized.
BEML Limited is a ‘Schedule A’ company under the Union Government’s Ministry of Defence. It plays an important role in defence, rail, mining and construction. BEML operates in three sectors namely Defence-Aerospace, Mining-Construction and Rail-Metro, an official said.
