The Beating Retreat ceremony, marking the culmination of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, was held today at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other Union Ministers were present on the occasion.
The event honoured the discipline, unity, and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces, with the President of India presiding over the ceremony. This annual tradition celebrates India’s rich heritage and military pride.
The bands of the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, the Indian Air Force and the Central Armed Police Forces played an array of foot-tapping melodies before the distinguished audience.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi said in a post that the ceremony will showcase the strength of India’s rich military heritage. He said that the whole country is proud of the armed forces who dedicate their lives to the defence of the country.
Calling the Beating Retreat ceremony a solemn and dignified tradition that brings the Republic Day celebrations to a close, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had also posted on X: “Set against the grandeur of Vijay Chowk, it reflects the discipline, unity and timeless ethos of our Armed Forces, and stands as a symbol of national pride and military heritage.”
