Pramod Kumar Bhadana, an elected Block Development Committee (BDC) member from Bhadauli village in the Kithore police station area, was shot dead on Saturday morning while returning from his fields with fodder.
The incident has sparked tension in the area, prompting the deployment of additional police forces.
According to initial reports, Pramod was allegedly shot by Robin, son of Tarsapal, along with unidentified accomplices. During the attack, a buffalo accompanying Pramod was also injured. Eyewitnesses stated that shots were fired near the residence of Pramod’s uncle and at the home and vehicle of the village head’s husband, Satish, shortly after the attack.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive may be linked to an ongoing local dispute over influence and dominance in the village. Pramod sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries. The assailants fled immediately.
Robin, the main accused, has a history of criminal allegations in the area. About five years ago, he was accused of killing his own uncle, Naresh, son of Balbir. Additionally, just three days prior to this incident, Robin and an associate, Vineet, were allegedly involved in a firing incident in Nanpur, Hapur district, targeting a local youth named Shivam, son of Kalu.
Pramod Bhadana, affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as the BDC member of Bhadauli. His murder in broad daylight has raised public concern and calls for swift justice.
Following a complaint lodged by Pramod’s father, police have registered a case naming Robin and his associates as primary suspects. Senior officials confirmed that an investigation is underway and that efforts to locate and apprehend the accused are ongoing.
