Bad weather dashes PM’s aerial survey plan of disaster hit areas in Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s larger plan for aerial survey of disaster affected Dharali in Uttarkashi and other parts of the state could not be realised on Thursday as he could not fly due to poor weather conditions in the Himalayas. He, however, chaired review meeting with officials and announced a ₹1200 crore disaster relief package for the state.

As his scheduled flight for disaster affected places could not take place Prime minister chaired a high level review meeting with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, governor Gurmeet Singh, state chief secretary Anand Bardhan, state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt and other officials to assess damages caused by floods in various parts of the state in the ongoing monsoon. In the meeting Prime Minister announced a financial assistance of ₹1200 crore for flood and rain affected areas.

He also announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹ 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased persons and ₹50,000 for those injured in the rain inflicted series of disasters across the state.
Besides this Modi assured for centre’s holistic support under the PM CARES for Children scheme to the kids orphaned in recent floods and landslides.

Following his damage assessment meeting with the CM Dhami and officials Modi interacted the families of disaster victims and assured them all cooperation by his government to rehabilitate them.

PM also met NDRF, SDRF and Aapda Mitra volunteers and praises their efforts in, search, rescue and relief operations at disaster affected areas. Further prime minister assured full support of the central government for restoration and rebuilding of infrastructure in disaster hit areas.
As per information sjared by the government officials prime minister was to return to Delhi after completion of his meetings. He was yet to leave for Delhi st thd time of filing the story.
