Babul Supriyo has bitterly criticised the West Bengal government over the deaths of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters and workers in the state.

Speaking to reporters on 2 June, the Union MoS for Heavy Industries alleged that the nexus between the ruling Trinamool Congress government in the state and the police is a major issue. He accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the police of supporting the violence against BJP cadres.

“What TMC is doing under leadership and dictate of Mamata Banerjee isn’t new,” said the BJP MP from Asansol.

“If action isn’t taken immediately, we won’t be able to face people. The biggest issue is nexus between the TMC and the police. Police is supporting and unleashing violence,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

Reacting to the deaths of two BJP workers in three days in the state, Supriyo took to Twitter to inform that he is going to New Delhi to report and discuss the situation with the central leadership.

Addressing Banerjee as a “dictator”, Supriyo wrote that mere condemnation on Twitter and Facebook won’t help in dealing with TMC “goons”.

“Just resorting to strong words on Tweeter or Facebook can’t be the way to deal with these TMC goons&killers under the leadership of a Dictator who’s eerie silence is consent 2 everything,” he wrote in response to a Twitter user’s post.

“True, FB&Twitter cn create awareness but it wudnt stop TMছিঃ frm unleashing their terror reign by misusing the police almost everywhere in everyway•Where they can’t kill they r getting the police 2 charge&arrest innocent BJP workers with grave unbailable IPC sections #Shame,” he added.

Expressing his concern for the safety of the BJP workers in the state, Supriyo said that he felt ashamed to move around with Z-security cover when workers are completely at the mercy of “TMC-fied Police”.

“Every month I receive letters abt ‘Breaching Security Norms’ that I am expected 2 obey under my Z-cover but honestly, I feel UTTERLY ashamed 2 move around with armed security when party workers who walk/run with me for miles r left completely at the mercy of TMC-fied Police,” wrote the 47-year-old leader.

A BJP worker, identified as 32-year-old Dulal Kumar, was found hanging from a pole in Dabha village of Purulia’s Balarampur in West Bengal.

According to the media reports, Dulal had gone missing on Friday and his body was found hanging on Saturday morning.

While the police are also investigating the suicide angle, the BJP has alleged that TMC is behind the murder of its party worker.

Other BJP leaders, too, pointed fingers at the TMC-police nexus behind what it described as “killings”.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP National General Secretary, alleged that the local police are trying to prove that Dulal committed suicide and demanded that a team of five doctors conduct Dulal’s post-mortem and that the process is video graphed to be presented in court.

Recently, the body of a 20-year-old college student identified as Trilochan Mahato was found hanging from a tree in Purulia’s Balarampur with a chilling message. A note written on the back of his white T-shirt said, “BJP politics at only 18 years.”

On Friday, hundreds of workers and leaders of the West Bengal BJP held protests and demonstrations against the killing of young activist in the Purulia district.

The Protests held demonstrations outside several police stations as they accused the state administration of failing to maintain law and order.
