Mohali police are investigating a ransom threat involving popular Punjabi and Bollywood singer B Praak. The complaint was filed by Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who claims to have received a call asking him to relay the threat to B Praak.

According to news agency ANI, the caller demanded Rs 10 crore and warned of serious harm if the money was not paid within a week. The threat has been linked, by the caller, to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

What Dilnoor told police

In his written complaint to the Mohali Police, Dilnoor said the first contact came on January 5, when he noticed two missed calls from an overseas number. He did not respond.

The following day, he received another call from a different international number. He answered briefly but disconnected after finding the conversation suspicious.

Soon after, Dilnoor said he received a voice message carrying the threat. In the audio, the caller allegedly said Rs 10 crore must be paid within a week, failing which B Praak would face serious harm.

The caller also warned that the threat should not be taken lightly and claimed to be operating from outside India. He identified himself as Arju Bishnoi, describing himself as an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Dilnoor told police.

Why the case matters now

The complaint was submitted to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mohali, on January 6. Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.

The threat comes against the backdrop of a series of extortion-linked incidents attributed to the Bishnoi gang in recent months. Earlier this year, around 25 rounds were fired outside a businessman’s house in Rohini, Delhi. Similar firing incidents were reported in West Vihar and East Delhi, often following threat calls.

Delhi Police later said accused persons in two such cases were arrested after encounters. Investigators are now examining whether the Mohali threat follows the same pattern.

B Praak is among the most recognisable names in the Punjabi and Hindi music space, known for songs such as Pachtaoge, Filhall, Teri Mitti, and Ranjha. Police are assessing the threat level and possible links as the probe continues.
