Asian Table Tennis Team Championships gets underway in Bhubaneswar

The ITTF-ATTU 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025 officially got underway today at the Athletics Centre of Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, with Odisha Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj officially inaugurating the championship.

The championships will feature exciting matches in both men’s and women’s categories. In the morning session, 12 teams — including Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Maldives, Uzbekistan, Oman, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Macau China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Qatar, and Nepal — will compete in the group stage matches.

It is a matter of pride that Odisha is hosting international Championships, highlighting the state’s growing prominence in the global sports arena, Sports Minister Suraj said while inaugurating the championship.

The ceremony was attended among others by Ms. Sheikha Hayat Al Khalifa, Acting Regional Vice-President, ATTU & President, Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation; Dushyant Chautala, President, Table Tennis Federation of India; Meghna Ahlawat; and Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, Padma Shri Awardee and India’s Table Tennis legend, A. Sharath Kamal, the Brand Ambassador of this event.
