Heavy rainfall in June triggered massive floods, cloudbursts, and landslides across the 36 Nari Koyu Assembly Constituency in Arunachal Pradesh. The damage has left several villages completely cut off from the rest of the region.

Preliminary damage assessments show at least six major bridges either damaged or completely washed away. This includes the Reme RCC Bridge, Koyu RCC Bridge, Sijo RCC Bridge, Sido Bridge, and Doge RCC Bridge.

Roads connecting remote villages have also been blocked by landslides, making both transportation and emergency response extremely difficult across the affected areas.

Villages facing heavy losses

A number of villages have reported significant destruction, including Lipin, Mane, Tene, Sipu, Kakki, Koyu, Rotte, Kadu, Rina, Sido, Korang, and Tabi Ripo.

Hundreds of wet rice cultivation fields were destroyed, along with orange orchards, arecanut plantations, fish ponds, and irrigation canals. Many homes were either partially submerged or damaged by landslides. Drinking water pipelines, electricity poles, and other public facilities also suffered severe damage.

Kadu village among the worst hit

Kadu village reported some of the most extensive losses. Authorities confirmed large scale agricultural damage, multiple homes affected, and road connectivity completely cut off from the rest of the region.

The scale of livestock loss in Kadu has been particularly alarming. Officials estimate around 1,000 cattle and goats were swept away by the floods in this Arunachal Pradesh village.

Korang village loses key bridge connection

In Korang village, the Rema Bridge suffered severe damage. This bridge holds particular importance since it connects parts of East Siang and Lower Siang districts. Authorities have now declared it unsafe for use.
