In a swift and daring operation, the Indian Army helicopters on Wednesday morning evacuated 22 CRPF personnel along with three civilians who were stranded near Madhopur Headworks on the borders of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab since yesterday.
A defence spokesman said that at 6 AM today, Army Aviation helicopters were launched to carry out the rescue despite challenging conditions. All stranded individuals were safely evacuated and brought to safety.
In a turn of events that underscores the urgency of the operation, the building where they had been sheltering collapsed shortly after their evacuation, highlighting the timeliness and precision of the rescue.
This successful operation once again reflects the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and its ability to respond promptly in crises.
The synergy between the Indian Army and local authorities ensured that a potential tragedy was averted, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, Army troops, along with CRPF personnel, rescued 11 BSF and nine Army personnel who were stranded last evening in flood waters in the forward posts. Besides, more than 100 civilians were rescued from different flooded areas in the region.
Several students and staff members of the Agriculture University stranded in the flood waters that had entered the campus here, were also rescued by the Army and CRPF jawans.
School students trapped in flood waters at the Swanjhna were also rescued by Army troops.
