Troops of the Red Shield Division arrested 4 UGs belonging to the Hmar National Army (HNA) and the Kuki National Front (P) between 5 and 6 August, from different places of the Churachandpur district of Manipur.
A press release of the PIB (Defence Wing) in Imphal said that the troops of the Red Shield Division launched a swift operation and arrested 3 cadres of HNA near Rajdhani Travels, New Bazar Tiddim road, Churachandpur town on 6 August based on specific intelligence regarding demand of extortion money by HNA cadres in the area.
The arrested people had been identified as SS Maj Hminga Hmar, Thanga, (50), s/o (L) Tanglo Hmar, of Hmar Veng, Churachandpur, SS Cpl Lalrinchhana Hmar, Sam, (25) s/o Thangliana Hmar of Molnam, Churachandpur and SS Pvt PT Lalmalsawm Hmar, Solomon, (21), s/o of Ralthathung, of Khomoi, Churachandpur district.
The Army also recovered one 9mm Pistol with magazines, one live round of ammunition, three mobile Handsets, one Maruti Van and Rs 30,000 from the arrested cadres.
Earlier, troops of the Red Shield Division had arrested a weapon dealer from Kwakta Bazar on 5 August. The arrested person has been identified as John Kipgen S/o Mr Mangkhohen Kipgen, resident of Bhojang village, Churachandpur district. The Army statement said he had been working for the banned outfit KNF (P) since 2010.
