Arms recovered from Bijnor madarsa, six arrested

According to ASP Bijnor Viswajeet Srivastava, the police have arrested madarsa manager Sajid and his five aides on charges of supplying arms and ammunition in the garb of Unani Dawakhana running inside the Madarsa.

Police have arrested six people including the manager of a madarsa on charges of supplying arms and ammunition in Sherkot town of district Bijnor through a Unani Medicine Centre which he was running.

Police have recovered one 32 bore pistol with 8 cartridges, 3 country made pistols of 315 bore with 32 cartridges, and one 32 bore revolver with 16 cartridges from Madarsa Darul Quran Hamid on Kandhla Road of Bijnor district on Wednesday.

According to ASP Bijnor Viswajeet Srivastava, the police have arrested madarsa manager Sajid and his five aides on charges of supplying arms and ammunition in the garb of Unani Dawakhana running inside the Madarsa. People never suspected him as the Unani Dawakhana was inside the madarsa, said the ASP.

A team of Anti -Terrorism Squad (ATS) and police is interrogating the arrested persons to get further information about the network of Sajid, his supplier and where they were using the weapons.

On Wednesday, a team of police, led by circle officer Afzalgarh Kripashankar Kanauji raided Madarsa Darul Quran Hamid and recovered arms and ammunition from there during the search. Henceforth, the madarsa manager Sajid and his five associates Faheem Ahmad, Zafar Islam, Sikander Ali, Sabir, and Azizurrehman were arrested and taken to Bijnore for interrogation.
