Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly told his ministers and MPs to carry on with the agitation against the “injustice” meted out to the state till all issues are addressed.

According to reports, Naidu addressed a meeting with the members of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) via teleconference from Dubai on Thursday, 8 February.

The meeting followed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s statement in the Parliament in which he addressed the concerns of the protesting leaders from Andhra.

Naidu reportedly told his party’s leaders that the speech had nothing significant and questioned the talk of a formula for revenue deficit.

Exhorting the leaders to continue pressing for the demands in the Parliament, Naidu reportedly said that the party will take a call after talks between officials from the Centre and state.

Expressing his disappointment with the treatment, Naidu reportedly said that the Centre’s behaviour “making Andhra people feel that they are not part of the nation”.

Yet Naidu asked his party’s leaders not to cause inconvenience to the people of the state by resorting to bandhs. Opposition parties, including CPI(M), YSR Congress and Congress, had recently called for a bandh across Andhra Pradesh. TDP, too, had joined the bandh call to draw the attention of the Centre to the concerns of the state.

Jaitley had in his speech said that the Centre has been and will continue to finance the projects implemented under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

“Some of them are work-in-progress,” Jaitley informed the House even as protests from Andhra leaders continued.
