AMMK’s TTV Dinakaran accuses Vijay’s TVK of poaching his party’s lone MLA

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of poaching his party’s lone MLA through bargaining.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Dinakaran said that the AMMK will demand a CBI inquiry if the MLA who joined TVK is given a ministerial post.

“TVK has poached an MLA elected on behalf of AMMK… If the AMMK MLA who joined TVK was given a ministerial post, our party would demand a CBI inquiry into the matter. Vijay says he will act at horse speed, but he has bought the horse through bargaining…,” Dinakaran said.

S Kamraj, who won the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 on an AMMK ticket, extended his support to Vijay’s TVK as it fell short of a majority.

After this, Dinakaran expelled Kamraj from AMMK for violating the party’s stand and independently extending support to the TVK in the Assembly.

“The Mannargudi Member of Legislative Assembly of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, S Kamaraj, has, in violation of the party’s stand, independently extended his support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in the Assembly today. Since this act is contrary to the objectives and principles of the party, S. Kamaraj is hereby removed from all positions, including his basic membership of the party, with effect from today,” TTV Dhinakaran posted on X.

Kamraj was also in touch with AIADMK’s rebel MLA Shanmugam and had met him at his residence days before the Tamil Nadu floor test.
