Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah visited the BJP state office in Lucknow on Saturday. The Home Minister stayed at the party office for about 40 minutes and met party officials and senior leaders.
He was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Amit Shah’s visit to the BJP headquarters is considered politically significant, as this was his first visit to the state party office since the 2022 Assembly elections. Apart from formal meetings with officials, several important organisational issues were discussed.
Earlier, while addressing a programme organised at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Home Minister Amit Shah praised the policies and working style of the Yogi government. He described Uttar Pradesh’s model of development, law and order, and good governance as an inspiration for the entire country.
Amit Shah’s visit comes at a time when discussions regarding cabinet expansion and major organisational changes are gaining momentum in the state. Political circles view his visit as extremely important in shaping the state’s future political direction.
This was also Amit Shah’s first visit to Lucknow after Pankaj Chaudhary assumed charge as the state BJP president. During the visit, he offered specific guidance to the new leadership on strengthening coordination between the party organisation and the government.
According to a senior party leader, the Home Minister held a closed-door meeting with selected senior leaders at the state office. The discussions focused on the party’s organisational structure in the state and the proposed expansion of the Yogi cabinet.
Sources said that Amit Shah also discussed potential names for cabinet expansion with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and senior organisational functionaries.
Additionally, the BJP’s strategy to counter issues raised by the opposition in recent days, including the caste census and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, was discussed in detail.
