Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said prevention of infiltration is crucial not only from the security point of view but also to save the democracy from being hijacked.

No infiltrator has the right to influence our democratic system, he asserted.

Speaking at the Border Security Force’s diamond jubilee celebrations in Bhuj, Gujarat , Shah made it clear that only Indian citizens would decide who the chief minister of a state should become, or who becomes the prime minister of the nation.

He said the BSF remains fully alert to prevent any infiltration along the country’s borders. Prevention of borders from infiltration is essential to protect the democratic system from being polluted. He declared with firm resolve that every infiltrator will be identified and be deported one-by-one.

The HM said that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is an important step to help protect the democracy from infiltrators and to make it even stronger. He lamented that some political parties are trying to weaken the efforts to drive out infiltrators. Hence, he appealed to the people of the country to extend their support to the process.

In this context, the home minister said that the mandate given to the BJP by the people in Bihar in the recently-concluded assembly elections is a clear message that the citizens of the country will not accept infiltrators at any cost.

He said during the past few years, the border fencing has been strengthened rapidly and has been made impenetrable. Most of the trials related to fencing have now been completed and in the coming days a new concept of ‘e-Border Security’ will be introduced.

The BSF, he said, has the biggest role in implementing this concept on the ground, and the initial initiative has also been taken by the force. Every possible effort will be made to fully roll it out on the ground by next year. In the next five years, the entire land border of the country will be covered under this e-security shield.

Shah also informed that in a historic step towards making India’s maritime borders impregnable, the country’s first National Academy for Coastal Policing (NACP) has been established at Okha in Gujarat, and its responsibility for operations and management is with the BSF.

He added that in the times to come, this academy will provide world-class training to our Marine Police Force and further strengthen the nation’s coastal security apparatus.
