In poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, BJP president Amit Shah praised the government led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and accused Congress of ignoring the tribal population.

Addressing a rally at Jhabua, Shah observed that people of this area could now afford motorcycles.

“The Congress will come, Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi) will come. They will talk about everything, but development. They will talk about caste, religion. But whenever they come to power, they take money meant for the forest-dwellers to their own homes…The BJP ensures that the money meant for them reaches their (forest-dwellers’) homes,” Shah said.

“The Congress ruled Madhya Pradesh for 55 years, but development did not reach Jhabua,” he added.

“There was not even a tribal ministry (during the Congress rule). When Atal Bihari Vajpayee became prime minister, the Adivasi Kalyan Mantralaya was formed for the first time,” the BJP president said.

Earlier today, the BJP national launched the party’s Maha Jansampark Abhiyan in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

He offered prayers at the city’s Mahalaxmi temple and paid tributes to Ahilyabai Holkar.

Shah also addressed a Kisan Sammelan at Ratlam where he praised the Modi government at the Centre and the Chouhan government in the state for working towards increasing the earnings of farmers.

“The Modi government has decided to double farmers’ income by 2022 and we are moving in that direction,” said Shah, adding that the Centre has given farmers Rs 2.11 lakh crore during the 2014-19 period.

Comparing the work done by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and the BJP government in MP, Shah said that in 2003, Congress gave farmers Rs 2,915 crore but the MP government alone allocated Rs 23,900 crore for farmers in 2018 budget.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Madhya Pradesh will go to the polls on November 28, the Election Commission (EC) announced Saturday.
