Expressing confidence of BJP’s victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that after coming to power, the first thing his party will do is fence the border and hand-pick and deport the illegal infiltrators.
“I am fully confident that this time, a BJP government will be formed there. The first agenda of the government there will be to complete the work of fencing the border and to handpick each and every infiltrator and send them out of the country,” Shah said, while addressing a gathering in Araria, Bihar.
The BJP leader stated that Bihar, which gave the BJP-led NDA a massive majority in the recent Assembly elections, TMC-ruled West Bengal, and INDIA bloc-led Jharkhand, are among the regions most affected by what he called “demographic changes”.
‘Changes in demography are dangerous for the country’
Asserting that the changes in demography don’t build a healthy society, Shah said that illegal infiltration and encroachment are dangerous for the culture and geography of any country.
“The natural growth of the population is welcome, but changes occurring due to encroachment and illegal infiltration are extremely dangerous for the culture, history, and geography of any country—all three,” he said.
Shah said that the intruders don’t just influence elections but also encroach on the rations meant for the poor and diminish the employment opportunities for the youth.
“Intruders do not just influence elections; they also encroach on the rations meant for the poor, diminish the employment prospects of the youth, and pose a major threat to the nation’s security,” he said, announcing that all illegal encroachments within 10 kilometers of the border will be demolished.
This was the reason the BJP government has decided to form a High-Level Committee on Demographic Changes, the minister said. The central government has formed the High Power Demography Mission to study the change in population structure across the country.
The Mission has been tasked to study the population changes and suggest measures to the Government of India to balance it.
Process to deport infiltrators to begin in Seemanchal soon, says Amit Shah
In an apparent reference to the exclusion of invalid voters from the Bihar voter list, Shah indicated that the government will deport every infiltrator from India’s soil.
“We had promised the people of Bihar during the elections that we would free Bihar from infiltrators. This does not merely mean removing the names of infiltrators from the voter list. We are determined to carry out the task of handpicking and deporting each and every infiltrator from India’s soil, he said.
“This will begin in the Seemanchal region in just a short time,” the home minister declared.
