Malpractices in the preliminary examination for posts of Revenue Inspector, Integrated Child Development Scheme supervisor, assistant revenue inspector and Amin, and Statistical Field Surveyor (SFS) conducted by government-run Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) have prompted the Odisha Government to cancel the main examination following the intervention of the Orissa High Court.

“The main examination for the posts of Revenue Inspector, Integrated Child Development Scheme supervisor, assistant revenue inspector and Amin, and Statistical Field Surveyor (SFS) scheduled to be conducted by Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission from 1 August to 4 September stands cancelled”, a notification issued by the commission stated.

All the candidates who appeared for the preliminary examination are allowed to sit at the main exam, even though only five times of 2,895 posts advertised should have been shortlisted to take the Main Examination. Such a step was taken, allowing all the candidates appearing in the Preliminary Examination to appear for the Main Examination, because of various allegations of malpractices made with regard to the recruitment process undertaken by the Commission, the Advocate General informed the Orissa High Court on Wednesday.

The alleged exam malpractice and paper leak in the OSSSC exam conducted from September 20 to October 8 last year had sparked widespread protest from job aspirants who had moved the High Court seeking transparency in the conduct of the examination.
