The Allahabad High Court on Friday issued notices to two accused on a petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the suspicious death of Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey.
The High Court issued notices to both accused – Sanjay Singh and Samar Singh – and ordered a fresh hearing in the case.
A division bench of Justice Siddhartha and Justice Vinay Kumar Dwivedi passed the order.
The court directed that copies of the petition be served on the accused and sought a counter affidavit from the SHO of Sarnath police station. The court directed the SHO to appear before it at the next hearing at 10 am if the counter affidavit is not filed.
The court also directed the Varanasi Police Commissioner to ensure that the SHO of Sarnath police station files the counter affidavit. The final hearing in the case will be held on May 22.
The High Court reserved its decision on May 4 after the completion of the hearing on the petition.
A petition has been filed in the High Court by the deceased actress’s mother, Madhu Dubey, demanding a CBI or SIT investigation. Advocate Saurabh Tiwari has presented his side on the petition.
Akanksha Dubey’s body was found under suspicious circumstances on March 26, 2023, at the Saumendra Hotel in the Sarnath area of Varanasi. Her mother, Madhu Dubey, had filed a murder case against singer Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh at the Sarnath police station on the same day.
