The Allahabad High Court has reprimanded the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar for disobeying court orders, directing him to appear in person.
The court has also ordered the issuance of a bailable warrant against the DM.
In the Mahendra Dutt Sharma case, the single-judge bench of Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery on Wednesday observed that the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar had yet to file a response despite two court orders dated December 8, 2025, and January 5, 2026.
During the hearing, the court took this negligence seriously and ordered the District Magistrate to appear in person on July 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to explain why he or she should not be punished for contempt of court.
The court also ordered the issuance of a bailable warrant against the District Magistrate through the concerned Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The Registrar (Compliance) has been directed to take necessary steps to ensure compliance with the order.
