Allahabad High Court has, on Tuesday, granted conditional anticipatory bail to the accused in the Sambhal violence case, Mohammad Alam.
The order was passed by a single bench of Justice Jitendra Kumar Sinha, giving an anticipatory bail until February 25 next.
It is worth noting that on a petition filed by the father of Mohammad Alam, who received interim anticipatory bail from the Allahabad High Court in connection with the Sambhal violence.
The Sambhal CJM court recently ordered the registration of an FIR against several police officers, including then CO/ASP Anuj Chaudhary for allegedly firing at the petitioner, Mohammad Alam, during the violence on November 24, 2024.
Mohammad Alam’s lawyer argued in court that his client is innocent and fears that he may be arrested in the aforementioned case.
It was submitted in court that no offence is made out against the petitioner Alam and his name is not mentioned in the FIR. He himself was injured by a gunshot during the alleged incident and received treatment.
It was also stated that he will cooperate during the trial and will appear whenever summoned by the investigating agency or the court.
Meanwhile, the government sought some time to file a counter-affidavit in this matter.
The government lawyer informed the court that the petitioner did not sustain any injury from the bullet fired by the police personnel. However, after hearing all the parties, the court granted interim anticipatory bail to Mohammad Alam, who is an accused in the Sambhal violence case.
The next hearing in this case will be on February 25.
