All-party meeting in Madhya Pradesh passes resolution on 27% reservation for OBCs

Leaders of all major political parties in Madhya Pradesh unanimously passed an all-party resolution on Thursday, agreeing to provide 27 per cent reservation in state government jobs to the members of the Other Backward Classes (OBC).

The resolution was passed at the all-party meeting convened by MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav at the CM House in Bhopal.

Besides the CM and leaders of the ruling BJP, the leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attended the meeting.

The Congress was represented by MP Congress Chief Jitu Patwari, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Umang Singhar, and senior OBC leader and member of the All India Congress Committee, Kamleshwar Patel.

AAP State President Rani Agrawal and SP State Chief Dr Manoj Yadav also attended the meeting along with other leaders.

CM Dr Yadav said after the meeting that leaders of all political parties are unanimous in ensuring 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in the state. He said that all parties have also agreed that they would work unitedly on all forums, including the judiciary, legislature, and executive, to provide reservation benefits to the OBC section.

The CM informed that 14 per cent reservation is already being provided to OBCs in MP, while the remaining 13 per cent is on hold, as the matter is sub-judice.
