Hitting out at the BJP over the NCERT textbook controversy related to the chapter on corruption in the judiciary, Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav said that just as “a cough exposes a thief, a false apology exposes a criminal.”

“BJP members, driven by a corrupt mindset, first level allegations against others that are often far greater than their own – the primary purpose being to make their own corruption appear insignificant in comparison. However, when they are caught, they express regret. A sham apology is eventually exposed; the false intentions and deceit of such individuals inevitably come to light, proving that they are guilty, not innocent,” he said in a statement issued on Friday.

Yadav said that in the recent case, BJP members even allowed allegations of corruption against the judiciary to appear in an NCERT textbook, and when the Supreme Court of India raised strong objections, they pretended innocence and claimed ignorance about who was responsible.

“The public is asking whether the BJP is running a government or a circus of arbitrariness,” the SP president questioned.
