No senior Samajwadi Party leader has yet met Azam Khan since his release from Sitapur jail after 23 months.

On October 9, the Bahujan Samaj Party’s National President will launch Mission 2027, seeking to boost preparations state assembly elections, with a rally on the death anniversary of the BSP founder, late Kanshi Ram. Mayawati has instructed party workers to make preparations for the same.

Welcoming Khan’s release, Akhilesh Yadav has said that cases against the leader would be withdrawn when the party comes to power. He said even those filing false cases have learned that every lie has a statute of limitations, as does every conspiracy.

”The BJP never approves of those who symbolise social harmony. Azam Khan Saheb will once again stand with every neglected, marginalised, and oppressed, raising his voice against the oppression of the people by the BJP and their allies,” he has stated.

It is noteworthy that, on the question of Azam Khan joining the BSP, Akhilesh Yadav said that ”Azam Khan is with the Samajwadi Party’s founder, Netaji, and with us.” Azam Khan has stated that he spent 23 months in jail, has not met anyone, and has not had access to a mobile phone inside the jail for communication.
