BJP spokesperson Anand Dubey said here on Friday that Akhilesh Yadav is a shape-shifting electoral Hindu who only dons the garb of Hindutva when elections are near. He said these are the same people who stained Ayodhya with the blood of Karsevaks (Hindu volunteers). As soon as elections approach, the pseudo-Hindu nature of Samajwadi Party leaders comes to the fore.

Anand Dubey further said that these are the same people who question the divine and grand Mahakumbh and also object to historical projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. During election time, they portray themselves as followers of Sanatan Dharma, while their conduct and history are contrary to this.
It is noteworthy that Akhilesh Yadav had attacked the BJP on Thursday over the controversy involving Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand during the ritual bath in the Ganges at Prayagraj. He accused the saffron party of following the path of unrighteousness, saying preventing Shankaracharya and saints from bathing in the Ganges is the greatest act of unrighteousness.
The SP chief had called the insult to Shankaracharya and saints a direct insult to Sanatan Dharma. He asserted that the Samajwadi Party will stand against the government if it insults any saint or Shankaracharya.
Following the exchange, the political battle over religion and faith has intensified once again in the state’s politics.
