Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday paid rich tributes to socialist icon Ram Manohar Lohia on his death anniversary, reaffirming his commitment to Lohia’s principles of social justice and equality.

In a heartfelt message on his WhatsApp channel, Yadav wrote, “Mahaan samajwaadi va swatantrata seenaani Dr Ram Manohar Lohia ji ki punyatithi par koti- koti naman! Na insafi aur gair-baraabari ke khilaaf Lohia ji ki ‘sapt kranti’ ke siddhaant ko vyavahaar ki zameen par utaarne ke liye hum aaj phir prabuddhata ka sankalp lete hain.”

Yadav emphasized his party’s dedication to empowering the PDA community, stating that achieving political power to uplift the oppressed, distressed, and humiliated will be a true tribute to Lohia’s ideology. “PDA samaj ki unnati ke liye raajneetik shakti ko haasil karke har samaj ke ‘peedhit, dukhi, apmaanit’ ka utthan karna, Lohia ji ke vrihad maanviya vichaaron ke prati hum sabki sacchi shraddhanjali hogi,” he wrote.

On the same occasion, Yadav criticized the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, alleging record atrocities against Dalits and claiming that the government is more interested in protecting its own interests than serving the people. “The current government has the highest number of cases of atrocities against Dalits. Recently, a son of the Valmiki community was murdered, but the government remained silent. The BJP’s claims of zero tolerance are false,” he alleged.

Yadav’s tributes to Lohia underscores the Samajwadi Party’s commitment to social justice and equality, principles that are central to Lohia’s ideology. The party’s pledge to empower the PDA community reflects its determination to bring about positive change in Uttar Pradesh.
