Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav made a major pledge on the occasion of Diwali, saying that on Diwali 2027, the PDA government will purchase lamps worth crores of rupees from the Prajapati community of Uttar Pradesh, so that their incomes are boosted and their homes remain illuminated for months.
Posting on his social media account X on Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav said that the current BJP government is depriving the Prajapati community of Uttar Pradesh of their rights by giving this work to people from distant coastal states.
He sarcastically said, “We want the lamps to be from Uttar Pradesh — the wicks, the oil, and the light. The BJP should not commit the sin of ‘darkness under the lamps’ by neglecting the people of Uttar Pradesh in the Deepotsav contracts.”
While extending Diwali greetings, he said that a true Diwali will only happen when its light reaches every home and every hardworking family in the state can see their happiness in that light.
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had said about the festival that festivals are symbols of mutuality: someone’s soil, someone’s lamp, someone’s yarn, someone’s wick, someone’s oil, someone’s puffed rice, someone’s cloth, someone’s sewing, someone’s khoya, someone’s sweets, someone’s toys, someone’s batasha, someone’s sparkler, someone’s firecracker… If harmony remains, the festival will survive.
He said that some people continue to display their negative thinking for their narrow political ends. Such people may celebrate festivals superficially for show, but without a good and true heart, they can never be happy from within.
Akhilesh Yadav said that in the joyous atmosphere of the festivals, we pray for such people to stay away from the impurities and poison in their minds. Sometimes, sit alone and think about whether there was ever such sourness or bitterness in their thoughts and behavior. If not, then consider why this is happening now. Is someone taking advantage of their innocence and using them for political gain? Is someone making their thinking violent and tampering with their mental and physical health? A negative person gradually becomes violent, which has a very negative impact on their own psyche and health. They become angry very quickly, which has a very negative impact on their family and social relationships.
Therefore, everyone is urged to think positively and stay positive, be happy themselves, and let everyone else be happy too, he added.
