Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav blamed the BJP government for the fake and toxic codeine cough syrup,
Responding to Chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s allegations that SP leaders are linked with the accused in the Codeine syrup case, Yadav said, “When you’re in trouble, blame others. This is an old game. The rulers should say something new.”
He alleged that the illegal business, worth thousands of crores, spread across the country, is protected by the BJP government. “Many other similar illegal businesses are being carried out under the BJP government. Land mafias are illegally occupying government land and the land belonging to the poor in various districts,” he charged.
The SP chief said corruption is rampant under the BJP rule, prevalent in every department. The government is playing with the lives of the poor and children as the government’s bulldozer is silent on counterfeit Codeine cough syrup dealers. The illegal trade that began in Varanasi has spread from one district to another, eventually reaching other states and even abroad.
Yadav said that the STF investigating the toxic cough syrup case is also in cahoots with the illegal traders. No action has been taken yet. A syrup task force, or STF, of honest people should be formed to truly investigate the codeine cough syrup case, he demanded.
