Services of telecom operator Airtel were down on Monday due to a network outage.

According to Downdetecter, an online real-time outage monitoring portal, more than 3,500 outages were reported around 4 pm on the Airtel network.

As per Downdetecter Jio users also reported around 200 outages at around 5 pm and Vi reported around 50 outages.

However, Jio later clarified that there was no issue with its network and the only problem observed was in calls made by Jio numbers to the Airtel network customer.

“We would like to clarify that the Jio network has been operating normally throughout the day with no operational issues. All Jio-to-Jio calls and calls from Jio to other non-impacted networks have been working seamlessly,” the telco said in a statement.

It further added, “The only problem observed was in calls made by Jio numbers to a specific impacted network customers, due to downtime on that network’s end. This did not affect Jio customers calling within the Jio network or connecting to any other networks.”

Meanwhile, several users flooded social media platform X with complaints.

Responding to one of the complaints, Airtel said, “We are currently experiencing a network outage. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services promptly. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.”

Frustrated users took to social media to share their complaints. While some complained of being unable to make or receive calls, others pointed out issues with SMS services.

“@Airtel_Presence @airtelindia services are completely down. Unable to make or receive calls and even messages are not working. This is causing serious inconvenience. Please resolve the network outage immediately and confirm ETA for restoration,” one user wrote on X.

“If you are an #Airtel user, and unable to make calls, you’re not alone. Seems like a widespread outage,” said another.
