AIIMS super specialists provide treatment to 500 patients in remote Ladakh village

A team of super specialists from AIIMS New Delhi commenced its two-day medical outreach programme in the far-flung Diskit village in the Nubra valley of Ladakh on Friday and held consultations at the Sub-District Hospital, Diskit.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Deputy Chief Executive Councillor Tsering Angchuk, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Nubra Mukul Beniwal, Block Medical Officer Dr. Stanzin Phantok, and a representative from the Security Ashoka Mission, Tashi Motup.

A total of 18 super specialists from various departments of AIIMS are part of this outreach, including experts from Endocrinology, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Neuropsychiatry, Plastic Surgery, G.I. Surgery, Haematology, Ophthalmology, Optometry, Gynaecology, Medicine, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, and CDER. The initiative aims to extend advanced healthcare services to the people of Nubra.

On the very first day, over 500 patients from various villages of Nubra received consultations and treatment, with priority given to those in urgent need.

The local community of Diskit village welcomed the initiative and also expressed gratitude for receiving super-specialist medical consultations in the remote area.
