The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar has secured the 14th rank among medical colleges in India and emerged as the top medical college in Odisha, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 released by the Union Education Ministry.
This marks a remarkable rise from its 31st position in 2021 and 15th position in 2024, underscoring the institute’s growing reputation in medical education, healthcare, and research, officials said.
Adding to its distinction, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has also been placed among the top 100 institutions in the country in the “Overall” category—an achievement only a few medical institutions can claim.
Highlighting the reasons behind this success, Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director and CEO, said the institute has made significant progress in infrastructure, patient care, education, research, and institutional perception.
“This recognition is the result of the collective hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. We remain committed to delivering excellence in healthcare, fostering world-class research, and nurturing the next generation of medical professionals,” Dr Biswas added.
The NIRF rankings assess institutions on five parameters: Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR); Research and Professional Practice (RP); Graduation Outcomes (GO); Outreach and Inclusivity (OI); and Peer Perception (PP). AIIMS Bhubaneswar achieved a strong score of 64.31 out of 100, reflecting its well-rounded performance.
Earlier this year, the institute was also ranked 12th in the India Today-MDRA Survey of Best Medical Colleges and secured the 2nd position among emerging medical colleges.
As Odisha’s top-ranked medical institution, AIIMS Bhubaneswar continues to set benchmarks in medical education and healthcare delivery, both regionally and nationally.
