Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the under-construction Mahatma Buddha University of Agriculture and Technology on Sunday and reviewed its progress by speaking with officials and the implementing agency.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction work.
He directed officials to work on a war footing to commence teaching at the university from the July 2026 session.
Speaking to media persons after the inspection, the Chief Minister said that the Agricultural and Technology University being built in Kushinagar in the name of Mahatma Buddha will prove to be a significant achievement for eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who arrived in Kushinagar on Sunday after campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections, paid tribute to Buddhist religious leader Bhadant Dnyaneshwar and then visited the under-construction Mahatma Buddha University of Agriculture and Technology.
He toured the campus to review the progress of the work and directed officials of the implementing agency to pay special attention to quality. Expressing satisfaction with the progress of construction, he said that efforts should be made to complete the building before the targeted deadline of October 2026.
After reviewing and inspecting the construction work, the Chief Minister told media persons that the construction of Mahatma Buddha University of Agriculture and Technology is progressing rapidly. Efforts should now be made to ensure that academic activities begin in the next semester. CM Yogi stated that the implementing agency has been asked to complete the building by October 2026. He has directed that efforts be made to deliver the building before that time so that admissions can be completed by July 2026 and regular academics can begin at the university in August-September.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Kushinagar and the surrounding region are extremely prosperous from an agricultural perspective. The land here is highly fertile and has abundant water resources. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the region has also gained improved connectivity for development.”
He stated that this University of Agriculture and Technology will prove to be a milestone for the prosperity of citizens, farmers, horticultural crop growers, and sugarcane growers.
CM Yogi stated that this university, a major and significant achievement for eastern Uttar Pradesh, is a gift from the double-engine government to the farmers. This university will become a medium for the prosperity of farmers and provide employment opportunities to the youth.
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Myanmar Buddhist Vihar in Kushinagar on Sunday to pay tribute to Buddhist religious leader Aggamahapandit Bhadant Dnyaneshwar. The Chief Minister offered flowers to Bhadant Dnyaneshwar’s mortal remains and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Bhadant Dnyaneshwar was the President of the Kushinagar Buddhist Monks Association and the head of the Myanmar Buddhist Vihar. He passed away on October 31 after a prolonged illness. His funeral will be held on November 11.
Meanwhile, his body is being kept at the Myanmar Buddhist Vihar, where tributes are continuing.
