Discontent with the acquittal of three accused in the Hathras gang rape and murder case, the family members of the victim and their lawyers have announced their decision to move higher court to get justice.

The family also announced that they will not immerse the ashes of the victim till they get justice.

Senior lawyer of Supreme Court Seema Kushawaha, who had voluntarily fought the case for the victim’s family, said that they will go to the High Court against the lower court’s verdict.

“We will appeal for punishment of the three other accused, who had been let off by the trial court,” the lawyer said.

The SC/ST special court had sentenced the main accused Sandeep of life imprisonment and has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 in the Hathras incident.

Meanwhile, the family of the victim was aggrieved at the verdict.

“We have not get justice in the trial court and hence will not immerse the ashes of the victim in the Ganga till we get justice,” announced Sandhya, sister-in-law of the victim to the media.

She announced that all the four accused should be punished and if required they will go to the High Court and the Supreme Court.

Sandhya said for the past 2 and half years their family were passing a restless life and today’s judgement had broken our heart. “By punishing alone Sandeep we did not get justice and will do whatever is required to punish all the four,” she said, even targeting the State government over caste appeasement.
