Celebrating Massive Victory
The visit comes just a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a commanding win in the Assam Assembly elections, securing 82 seats in the 126-member House. The BJP-led NDA crossed the three-fourths majority mark, with the party alone achieving a two-thirds majority, its strongest performance in the state to date.
Allies Bodoland Peoples Front and Asom Gana Parishad won 10 seats each, further strengthening the ruling alliance’s position.
The Congress managed to secure 15 seats, while the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) won one seat and the All India United Democratic Front secured two.
This election was the first fought under Sarma’s leadership as Chief Minister, and the results underline the party’s growing dominance in Assam. The victory also marks the third consecutive win for the BJP-led NDA in the state Assembly polls.
With celebrations still underway, Sarma’s public interaction outside the RSS office added a visible note of confidence and connection with supporters following the resounding mandate.
