A class 11 student was beaten to death by a mob following a bike collision near Sahjanwa, Gorakhpur, police said on Tuesday. The family held a protest by blocking a road and demanded justice, claiming that it was a deliberate murder.

The incident occurred around 10 PM on Monday when 19-year-old Akash Nishad, along with his friends, was returning from a Durga Puja event on his motorcycle. According to reports, Akash’s bike collided with another two-wheeler on Cinema Road near Sahjanwa.

Shortly after the crash, a crowd gathered at the spot. Instead of helping the injured, the enraged mob reportedly surrounded Akash and brutally assaulted him. His three friends, Nikki (12), Vishal (15), and Ranjit (15), were also beaten up. A passerby alerted the police, and the injured were rushed to BRD Medical College, where doctors declared Akash dead upon arrival.

The tragedy did not end there. Around 3 AM, Akash’s grieving family staged a protest by blocking the road near the Nausad petrol pump with his body. The family demanded justice and claimed that this was not an accident, but a deliberate murder. Akash’s father, Dilip Kumar Nishad, alleged that his son was lynched by the mob. “This was not just an accident. We want a fair investigation into what happened with my son,” he demanded.

Police reached the site of the protest and assured the family that proper legal action would be taken. Following discussions with officials and assurances of a thorough inquiry, the family ended the protest after about an hour.

Sahjanwa Station House Officer (SHO) Mahesh Chaubey confirmed, “We received information about a road accident involving two bikes. One individual was declared dead at BRD Medical College. The family has submitted a written complaint, and a case is being registered. Investigation is ongoing, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.”

Authorities have begun reviewing the case, including checking local CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses to determine the sequence of events.
