The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune secured the first position among medical colleges in Maharashtra and the third position nationally in the India Today-MDRA Best Medical Colleges Ranking 2026, reaffirming its position as a premier institution for medical education and training in the country.
AFMC also emerged as the highest-ranked government medical college in India offering medical education at the lowest fee structure, highlighting its accessibility and excellence in healthcare education.
The institution delivered an outstanding performance across various parameters evaluated in the ranking, securing the second position nationally in career progression and placements. It also achieved the third rank in both objective assessment and perceptual scores, reflecting its strong academic standards, infrastructure, faculty expertise and reputation among stakeholders.
Further strengthening its national standing, AFMC ranked fifth among all medical colleges in India in THE WEEK-Hansa Research Survey 2026. The institution was also adjudged the top medical college in the western zone, underlining its leadership in medical education and training in the region.
